Dhulikhel
Namo Buddha Hiking is a one-day hike where you can find the beauty of the landscape and range of High Himalayan and Buddhist culture. Dhulikhel is a hilly area
that is 30 Km southeast of Kathmandu and 1550m above sea level. You can
find typical village communities of Newars, Brahmin, Chhetri, Tamang, and Dalit
and old Newari houses. From Dhulikhel, you can spot a Panorama view of snow-capped
Himalayan. Green hills, landscapes and some turned into beautifully carved
agriculture terraces can be observed when the way to or at Dhulikhel. The Himalayan
Range stretches from Mount Annapurna to Mount Karolung. more than 20 mount
Himalayan peaks include Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Ganesh Himal, Mt. Langtang,
Mt. Gaurishankar, and many more. However, Namo Buddha is an Important Buddhist
pilgrim site in Nepal. It is about 40 south southeast of Kathmandu Valley, the
stupa was built on the bones and hair of Prince Mahasattva (Buddha Shakyamuni)
former incarnations. There was a saying Prince Mahasattva and his two older
brothers were walking through the forest, they saw a hungry tiger with her five
cubes. She can’t move because of her hunger and her cubes were sucking her
milk. The three Princes went away, and Prince Mahasattva decided to go back
and sacrificed himself for the hungry tiger. When his brother went to look after
him they found his bone and hair. The sputa were built on top of these
remains.
We start our journey after
breakfast from the hotel at 8 a.m. then we drive to Dhulikhel (30 km)
which takes about a 1:30-minute drive from Thamel (Hotel) with a professional
English-speaking guide. We spent some time in Dhulikhel town where you can
see the Landscape, Himalayan Range, and old Newari house. Then, we walked for
3-4 hours through jungle hills and some of the villages on the way. Our guide
will also help to explain about the importance and history of places. You can
feel quiet no – Pollution and cool air in Namo Buddha. Walking up the
hills from the stupa, we can see Buddha giving his body to the tigress is engraved
in stone. You have time to have lunch there and we drive back to Kathmandu
(40 km) in the same car. (2 hours)
